Frequently Asked Questions

If this is your first time starting therapy (or you’ve done it before and forgot some things), we understand that you might have some questions. We are always happy to answer questions through email or phone but if you want to know more before you even take that step-feel free to see the frequently asked questions below.

Can we meet in person?

All talk therapy sessions are virtual and through our HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. However, for those who are interested in starting neurofeedback, that is an in person protocol that takes place in Burke, Virginia.

Do I have to submit to insurance or do you?

We submit all insurance claims through our system so you don’t have to. However, if you are out of network and are planning on getting reimbursed then you will submit a superbill to your insurance provider for that reimbursement.

How long and how often will we be meeting?

We do not have a session limit so figuring out what makes the most sense for you and your therapy journey will be up to you and your therapist. We are not going to force you to continue if you aren’t finding benefit. On the flip side, if you are wanting to continue but your symptoms have significantly improved, then figuring out tapering off will be the next step.

What happens if I cancel the day of an appointment?

You will be charged for the missed appointment the amount that either insurance would have provided, or if paying full fee the full amount. However, we do give everyone one freebie becuase we are human and sometimes forget. * We will also be lenient if there is an emergency.

What if I start to feel worse during therapy?

Sometimes upsetting feelings come up in therapy but the goal is to figure out how to process them, accept them, and move through them in a way that is healing.

Is the cost per session negotiable?

We understand that therapy might seem expensive, which is why we will work with your schedule and if meeting every week is too expensive we can work with that. However, our price is set because of all the hard work and dedication that therapists put into scheduling, continuing education, time for notes, billing, etc.

How do I get back into my client portal?

Go to the homepage and look for the orange button marked Request Appointment-click. Then at the top of the page click on the green sign in button. You will sign in with the email that we have on file for you.
